What Exactly Is Singles Golf?

The Chicago chapter of the American Singles Golf Association was started in the summer of 1999, with just four members. The chapter dramatically grew to nearly 200 members in just 3½ years. The chapter has several annually elected board members, who volunteer their time to this not-for-profit organization.

Members of ASGA share two common interests: playing golf and meeting unmarried members of the opposite sex. Demographics of the fastest growing golf organization in the world is unmarried (must be divorced, widowed, legally separated or never married), age 21+, and typically play one round of golf per week to an average scores from the 80's to 120 for 18 holes.

The members come from all walks of life but share the interest to have fun and play golf!

A typical outing will have between 32 and 40 players, with tee times set up by the club, and each player is usually randomly assigned a member of the opposite sex as a golf cart partner. Depending on the course, you may be able to walk, if you choose to. At the end of the day the group will retreat to a nearby restaurant for an evening of dinner, music and sharing stories about the day's round of golf.

The club, with members throughout the Chicagoland metropolitan area plays golf every weekend, in club sponsored outings, from the first of May to the first of October. The courses played range in location with an attempt to balance between the north, south and west suburbs. You can pick and choose which events you want to play in based on course selection, distance, etc - there is no requirement to play a minimum number of events.

Longer trips have taken members to Tuscan National Resort & Spa, Arizona, Moon Palace Resort, Cancun Mexico, Kiawah Island Resort, Charleston, SC, Cocotal Golf and Country Club in the Dominican Republic, the Double JJ Ranch, in Northern Michigan and Weaver Ridge GC & Casino in Peoria, IL.

Members may also meet once a month at a Chicago or suburban venue for food, drinks, and socializing, usually on Fridays. Other social events include: Bowling Nights, a Halloween Party, the Annual Golf Scramble & Dinner Dance, a Pub Crawl, the Annual Holiday Party and attending the Chicago Bar Assn. Holiday Show & Dinner, which is co-written by one of our members.

That's kind of what Singles Golf is all about. . . fun, friends and fairways!
