2019 Chicago Challenge

ASGA CHICAGO AND CAPTAINS ALICE ZYKS & RAY KALAL
ANNOUNCE THE 16TH ANNUAL 2019 CHICAGO CHALLENGE

In the continuing pursuit of alcoholic enjoyment and domination, the Brew Crew routed the Wine Club in the 2018 Challenge. After the event, a vocal outcry was heard from a segment of the spirits industry largely ignored in last year’s competition. HARD LIQUOR, fronted by Ray Kalal, has issued a challenge to compete against all-comers. To face down this looming threat, BEER/WINE, headed by Alice Zyks, have formed a powerful coalition.

Let the festivities begin!!! This year’s theme is GOLF MAY DRIVE YOU TO DRINK. Alice and Ray will lead their teams on the course and at the bar. The winning team will be able to toast their success and the losing team can drown their sorrows. Everybody’s a winner!!!!!!!

This “Ryder Cup” style event will take place on Saturday & Sunday, July 13-14, at George Dunne Golf Course in Oak Forest. Tee-times begin at 10AM. Competition formats will be team best ball, alternate shot, team scramble and singles matches.

Following golf on Saturday, we will swap stories and plan strategies for day 2 over dinner and beverages at a place to be determined. (Unfortunately, Hackney’s is out of business.)

The cost is $165, payable the day of the event. Checks to be made payable to ASGA. Cash and ASGA coupons are also welcome. That gets you golf, range balls, on-course prizes and cash prizes for the winning team. And tons of fun!!

To sign up for the event, you must:
— Send an e-mail to Tom Ullsperger @ tomu7@hotmail.com;
— Tell Tom your preferred libation (Beer/Wine) or (Hard Liquor);
— If you don’t have a preference, you will be placed on a team through a blind draw. Your decision to sign up for a particular team may be based on your head, heart or taste buds, but tastes have a way of changing. As such, so may the team you are assigned to.
— To fairly compete, it is helpful to have a handicap index. However, if
you reach out to Tom directly by either e-mail or phone, he will do everything possible to make all interested in competing eligible to play. His phone # is 708-508-1045.

You must sign up by Monday, June 24th. Teams will be selected shortly thereafter and there will be a pairings party the week before the event for those that want to attend with details to follow.
